Charity Head Shave 7 October 2016
August 28, 2016 at 7:59 PM
Three amazing Royal Marine mums (Clare Gumn, Kim Osmond & Shelley Farrow) all with their own stories to tell have joined together to raise as much money as they can for cancer charities. All three of them have committed to having their heads shaved in a joint shaveathon at The London Tavern in front of family, friends (some from as far away as Scotland).
In August 2015 I hit my head on a shelf at home and was severely concussed, I was taken in to hospital where I had a routine head scan to check if I had fractured my skull. The scan showed I had not fractured my skull but that I had a rather large tumour, within two weeks I was taken in to hospital to have it removed, I am one of the lucky ones and have since made a full recovery. Over the years I have lost friends, some older, some younger than me, and more recently a very very close friend of mine, Orchy, who sadly lost his battle with Cancer and was taken from us way too soon. Having lost my sister to breast cancer and sister in law to ovarian cancer seemed to be tribute to them to join Clare and Kim.
Karen Cossey (another Royal marine mum will be making a special trip from Leeds to Ringwood to put her hairdressing skills to good use by taking on the massive responsibility of shaving all three heads.
The fund raising has already started with just giving pages being set up, tee-shirts being sold and a raffle being organised.
To-date these three special ladies have all ready been promised donations of almost £2,000.
Following the head shave the brilliant Paul Kinvig will entertain us all with his brilliant solo act and party songs.
Please come along and support these lovely ladies and help us party the night away and make this a night to remember for everyone.
