Pub of the Year...in Ringwood? Surely not? Well we can tell you... Oh yes it could.
The London Tavern has been shortlisted to the final two in the industry awards for Community Pub of the Year. This is a magnificent achievement for us and all our customers.
We have been recognised for the amazing fundraising and community support which has become synonymous with the Tavern.
Tucked away on a back road into the Forest we The London Tavern has raised money for many different charities including guide dogs for the blind, the Bobby Moore caner fund, Breast cancer research , the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes, as well as a host of others too numerous to mention here.
This, along with support for local groups and clubs has now been formally recognised by an independent judging panel.
Roly Frost is obviously very proud he said “ It’s a reflection on everyone from the Tavern, customers and staff alike. We are all very proud, and should we be fortunate enough to win we shall have a big party to celebrate.”
And Roly should be proud, in one event alone the Tavern raise £21,000 for Help for Heroes, this along with thousands of pounds for other charities the pub has excelled with its support.
We will be told if we have won the South East Region final in August, this is the biggest region which includes London, and then we are invited to the Hilton Hotel in London for the National awards final in September when the overall winner will be announced”.
This is an amazing achievement by a tiny little country pub with big ambitions and is something that not only the Tavern regulars should be proud of, but everyone in Ringwood should feel very proud that our town is being represented for such a prestigious award.
