The London Tavern Annual Easter Beer Festival

March 18, 2011 at 9:30 PM

Regulars at the London Tavern are bracing themselves for the busiest weekend of the year. The annual Easter Beer Festival will be the biggest ever held by the Linford Road hostelry, with 20 real ales on offer over the 4 day holiday break. Landlord Roly Frost is as excited as the rest of the Tavernites, as they like to be known. 'last years festival was so successful that we have had to go one step further this year '.  He’s not kidding either, not only are there a record number of real ales on offer but the burgeoning reputation of the high quality food on offer has ensured that 'Dan the Chef' will be kept busy too. “We are going to be serving food throughout the whole holiday period and I am working on one or two surprise additions to the regular menu“ enthused the young chef. Dan continued “our local suppliers have promised me the best produce for  the whole Easter and Royal Wedding period”.

So that’s the Beer and the food, but what else can we expect from this popular watering hole.  Live entertainment, and plenty of it. Barmaid Rachael Heatherington has been put in charge of organising the acts, “we have some wonderfully talented people appearing over the Easter weekend and I am sure that there will be something for everyone” beamed Rachael, who, it should be noted is no mean singer herself!!   Having taken a look at the Pubs add in this weeks Journal its difficult not to agree.

As well as all this there is also a raffle to support the Local Royal British Legion who are raising money to buy a specialist canoe for injured service personnel through the Battle Back campaign.

The community spirit is still very much alive and kicking down at the London Tavern, despite what we read in the press about the 'demise of the local pub' here’s one typically British pub that’s thriving during very difficult times, I’ll raise a glass to that!

We have spent months choosing a large selection of guest ales from some of the finest micro breweries in the country.  We will be serving right through from Friday morning untill 11.00pm Monday evening, however for the last four years we have sold out by Monday lunchtime!!  Get here early to sample some great beers.

Our Easter weekend entertainment consists of:

Friday 22 April- George Holloway with his accoustic covers.

Saturday 23rd April - The Rat Pack Trio with their Rat Pack Classic.

Sunday - Roly's Sounds of the 6T's & 7T's.

Come and join us for a fantastic action packed weekend of entertainment and fabulous beers
